Industrial Arts

At CLJH, the Industrial Arts Makerspace is integral to the Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) program.  This program allows students to explore their interests and passions while gaining hands-on experience with various trades and career pathways. Students in grade 9 engage in authentic, meaningful exploration of occupational areas through a dynamic and responsive curriculum tailored to meet the needs of our students and community.

Students participate in diverse projects throughout the year, from learning tool safety and building a small picnic table to restoring furniture or designing CO2-powered cars for competition. With a focus on problem-solving, environmental stewardship, and teamwork, students also explore careers through guest speakers, Skills Alberta activities, and research projects.

The program also emphasizes career integration, technical skill development, and career reflection. By participating in the Industrial Arts Makerspace, students build practical skills and explore potential career pathways.
